One dish I found myself ordering almost daily was gnocchi al gorgonola (gnocchi with gorgonzola for those who couldn't make the connection.) This is a simple yet flavorful dish which can be made in about the same amount of time it takes to make a kraft dinner. So if you're cooking for your girlfriend/date/friend just forget the ramen noodles and give this a try, it will be sure to impress.
Ingredients
1lb gnocchi (homemade or store bought)
150 grams of gorgonzola cheese (about 1/3 of a pound)
1 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 shallots thinly sliced
1 tablespoon parmigiano reggiano (the real parmesan cheese)
Salt and pepper
A bit of basil
Preparation
- Heat pan to medium heatt with olive oil and shallot for 1 minute.
- Add gorgonzola and cream and stir until the ingredients are combined.
- Add the parmigiano reggiano, a pinch of salt and pepper and stir until creamy.
- Cook gnocchi in a pot of boiling water until they float to the top.
- Add cooked gnocchi to the pan with the sauce and toss for 1 minute.
- Top with pepper and a bit of basil, serve hot, and enjoy!
The best thing about working in a place like that is the valuable skills you can learn from different cultures.

It is very likely I will be discussing Gnocchi at least once at my blog - A beautifully sensual food if prepared correctly, normally hand rolled is what gets me... Store bought... actually it hasn't been too bad the last couple times.
ReplyDeleteBlue cheese? For me a little too intense. I like strong flavors, but not so pungent.
Ahh! Excuse me there was no blue cheese - Just inferred it from the title. My mistake.
